Our Teachers

Meet Our Team

Our passionate and qualified registered teachers share the same philosophy for our tamariki – to learn and grow. We enjoy a collaborative approach to teaching whilst being improvement-focused and reflective and recognise and value the skills and strengths that each team member contributes to the preschool.

Virginia Wilson

Head Teacher

Virginia Wilson

Hi my name is Virginia and a mother of three. I have been involved in Early Childhood education for nearly 30 years now.

I have been part of the Puketapu Community for nearly 10 years and love the rural strong community spirit of this area. I strongly believe that the preschool years are a partnership between the teachers, parents and community to ensure that every child has the opportunity to reach for the stars and meet their own full potential.

I am excited to be able to have this opportunity to work alongside a wonderful professional team in a community based centre that is dedicated to supporting the tamariki to become competent, confident learners.

Rebecca de Carvalho

Kia ora my name is Rebecca, I’m married to Bruno and we have 2 children. I’ve been involved in early childhood education for the last 10 years and hold a Bachelor of Teaching degree.

I believe that relationships between teachers, whanau and Tamariki are at the very core of Early Childhood Education as they help form reciprocal pathways based on mutual trust and communication all with the children’s best interests in mind.

I can’t wait to get to know all the families more and work alongside a great team in a beautiful rural community.
