Curriculum

Puketapu Preschool embraces and follows the principles of Te Whariki:
Empowerment, Family & Community, Holistic Development and Relationships

We tailor our well-resourced programme to each child’s strengths, interests and emerging skills incorporating all of our individual strengths and passions while maintaining fun and engagement! Positive learning outcomes for children are vital – children are empowered to develop robust learning skills, independence, responsibility, creative thinking, and a love and passion for life-long learning. Children are encouraged to work co-operatively, and develop competent social skills.

We encourage parents and whanau to share their hopes, knowledge, and aspirations in order for us to extend the learning and development of each child.

We believe that children need room to move, explore, learn and grow at their own pace and in partnership with parents, we will foster and develop the child’s unique identity.

There is a strong community focus and we value diversity and support a bicultural environment where opinions and contributions of all children families, whanau and staff are encouraged.
